SILK MAINTENANCE

Yes, dry cleaning can extend the life of silk, but it can also be achieved if you follow Silk Factory silk washing instructions. Silk Factory products are made of the highest quality 100% mulberry silk, so they can be washed in the washing machine, but due to their delicacy, care should be taken when washing.

Are you still bothered by how to wash silk at home?
Are you inclined to take silk to a dry cleaner’s every time?
Have you ever wondered, “Can I wash silk in the washing machine?”

Video instructions for washing silk by hand

Hand washing is always the best and safest method for washing particularly delicate fabrics such as Silk Factory silk.

  1. Fill the basin with lukewarm water. The ideal temperature for hand washing silk is 30 ° C.
  2. Add a few drops of pH neutral liquid detergent.
  3. Soak the silk product and leave for three minutes.
  4. Immerse it up and down in the water to move the fabric through the water and wash away any dirt or debris. This movement simulates the movement of a washing machine.
  5. Remove from water and rinse under clean water.
  6. Use a clean white towel to soak up moisture from your silk products, but don’t rub.
  7. Hang products if possible; however, avoid direct exposure to sunlight.
  8. Ironing at low temperature (we recommend doing this until the bedding is completely dry).
For those who do not have the time, patience or simply cannot physically wash silk, our products can also withstand machine washing. Of course, there is a higher risk and certain precautions must be taken to reduce the possibility of silk damage.
